An 80-year-old woman, Mrs. Aderibigbe Felicia, has been killed by suspected hoodlums inside her farm in Costain area in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident has thrown the people of the area into a state of confusion and apprehension.
It was gathered that the Octogenarian had been reported missing in the community since last Wednesday after she had left for the farm and did not return.
A source told LEADERSHIP Sunday that the people of the community suspected that the old woman was raped to death based on the position her corpse was found on the farm.
According to the source, there had been cases of rape in the community in recent times as many women could no longer go to farm alone.
It was gathered that a suspect known as Mima Sunday, the palm wine tapper, has been arrested by some youths in the community after the mobile phone of the old woman was found in his pocket.
It was also gathered that during interrogation, the suspect alleged that some fuFulanierdsmen killed the woman.
The suspect has however been handed over to the police at Costain community.
When contacted, the police public relations officer Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident.
She disclosed that the deceased name was Aderibigbe Felicia, while that of the suspect arrested by the police was Mimia
In another development, a 14-year-old boy, Marvelous Asefon, has been remanded by an Ondo State Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the state capital, for allegedly killing his neighbor, Sunday Ogele.
The suspect allegedly killed the deceased by stabbing him to death with a pair of scissors during a scuffle over a girlfriend.
LEADERSHIP Sunday also gathered that the defendant was arrested by the men of the State Police Command in Oka Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state after committing the crime.
He was later charged to court and arraigned on one count of murder.
The magistrate, Folashade Aduroja ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case till June 11 for further hearing of the case.
